Baltic Aquascaphe GMT MK-II — Ø39.5 / L2L 47 / 13.8 mm true GMT ship wave
Baltic has moved its Aquascaphe GMT into a second generation, and the mid-September 2026 ship wave is the news: the GMT MK-II product pages show Add to cart with “Delivery mid-September.” Four colourways — Blue, Red, Grey, and Green — share glossy black dials, with no public alphanumeric SKU on the PDPs, so identify your configuration by colourway plus strap.
The headline upgrade is mechanical. Baltic swaps the gen-1 caller-style Soprod for a Miyota 9075 true (traveller) GMT with an independently settable local hour hand, stop-seconds, and a 42-hour reserve. A genuine traveller GMT at this footprint and soft price class is genuinely rare for ~6.5" wrists.
Fit literacy filter
Lead on the published 47 mm lug-to-lug, not the 39.5 mm diameter alone — span decides a ~6.5" fit here. The 13.8 mm stack (12 mm without glass) needs a cuff check, and soft orientation sits Band 1–2 (~S$1,105–~S$1,235) before ship, GST, and duty. See lug-to-lug, sizing, and GMT style picks.
Official numbers (Baltic PDP)
Baltic publishes a 39.5 mm 316L steel case, 47 mm lug-to-lug, 13.8 mm thickness (12 mm without the double-dome sapphire), and a 20 mm lug width. The bidirectional 24-hour bezel uses a sapphire insert with 48 clicks — worth stating exactly, because secondary press often misreports it as 24.
Water resistance doubles over gen-1 to 200 m (20 ATM) with a screwed crown, and lume is BGW9 on a modernised faceted handset. The 24-hour bezel plus date window covers the travel function, while the glossy black dial keeps all four colourways anchored to the bezel colour for the split personality.
| Dimension / Spec | Official | WristFit note (~6.5") |
|---|---|---|
| Diameter (Ø) | 39.5 mm | Compact-tool band; diameter alone undersells the span |
| Lug-to-lug (L2L) | 47 mm | Published span — the lead fit number; upper-mid for ~6.5" |
| Thickness | 13.8 mm (12 w/o glass) | Flag for cuff/stack; dome owns ~1.8 mm of the height |
| Lug width | 20 mm | Standard strap ecosystem; rubber vs bracelet both work |
| Water resistance | 200 m / 20 ATM | True dive-rated tool case; gen-1 was 100 m |
| Calibre | Miyota 9075 traveller GMT | Independent local hour, 42 h reserve, stop-seconds hacking |
| Bezel | Sapphire 24h, 48 clicks | Bidirectional; official 48 — press often wrongly says 24 |
| Colourways / Ref | Blue / Red / Grey / Green | Glossy black dials; no public SKU — ID by colourway + strap |
Fit on ~6.5″ — span first, stack second
At 47 mm lug-to-lug, the MK-II shares its span with the Aquascaphe MK2 39.5 diver and adds 2 mm over the Aquascaphe MK2 37 (L2L 45, thick 12.9). Expect more wrist presence than the 37 without leaving the compact-tool band — a dimensional comparison only, not an on-wrist claim.
Thickness is the honest caveat. 13.8 mm sits tall beside thinner dress-sport pieces, so test cuff clearance and stacking before committing. It still undercuts the classic Speedy 38 trap at 14.75 mm, which remains the height lesson for sub-40 cases.
Strap choice changes the footprint. Baltic lists rubber Sport and steel bracelet (beads-of-rice / flat-link) options per colourway, and bracelet end-links always add effective span. If 47 mm sounds upper-mid on your wrist, start with rubber and confirm against our dive picks and sizing guide.
Soft SGD / Singapore buying path
Baltic lists the MK-II at €850 on Rubber Sport and €915 on steel bracelet (EU list, excluding non-EU taxes; Baltic notes outside-EU taxes and customs are not included). Soft FX orientation lands around ~S$1,105–~S$1,150 on rubber and ~S$1,190–~S$1,235 on bracelet — then add shipping, 9% GST, and any duty at import.
That straddles soft Band 1–2: rubber leans Band 1 on list before landed costs, bracelet lands in Band 2. Treat both as orientation, not landed quotes, and verify the live checkout currency plus DHL delivery terms before paying. Hodinkee notes availability now with shipping from 14 September 2026; no waitlist is stated anywhere — do not invent one.
Singapore retail reality: RAW Suntec remains listed as an official Baltic retailer, but the GMT MK-II is not on the RAW website — only the gen-1 Soprod GMT appears there. Direct-to-consumer from Baltic is the clear buy path; in-store MK-II stock is unverified, so ask RAW before travelling. See our Singapore buying guide for DTC import protocol.
Comparison — Ø / thick / L2L in travel & dive
| Model | Ø | Thick | L2L | Fit note (~6.5") |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Baltic Aquascaphe GMT MK-II | 39.5 | 13.8 | 47 official | Traveller GMT; span-first fit; cuff-check the stack |
| Baltic Aquascaphe MK2 37 | 37.0 | 12.9 | 45 official | 2 mm shorter span, 0.9 mm thinner; RAW Suntec path |
| CW C63 Sealander GMT 36 | 36 | 11.15 | 42–43 | Small-wrist GMT hero; notably shorter and thinner |
| Timex Atelier GMT Première M1a | 38.0 | 13.8 | 46.11 official | Same stack, smaller Ø; cautionary fit literacy |
| Omega Speedmaster 38 | 38.0 | 14.75 | ~44.9 | Height trap benchmark; MK-II sits ~1 mm thinner |
Reality check
The MK-II fits ~6.5" wrists as a presence-forward compact tool watch, not as a slim GMT — the published 47 mm span and 13.8 mm stack say so. Soft ~S$1,105–~S$1,235 orientation is pre-ship/GST/duty; confirm live checkout, and never accept invented scarcity or waitlist stories around a ship wave.
