Glashütte Original 70s — 39×39 / 9.6 mm square trio (L2L ~43.6–43.7 third-party) for ~6.5″

Glashütte Original has opened a new 70s line under Vintage — three softly rounded square steel watches with integrated lugs and the patented Groove Lock quick-change. The names are analogue-hi-fi: Vinyl Record (black, LE 500, bracelet + black rubber in the box), Tweed Amp (brown, regular), and Stereo Panel (silver, regular). Press dates availability from September 2026 at worldwide ADs and boutiques.

Official geometry that matters for ~6.5" is a 39 × 39 mm case, 9.6 mm thick, 100 m / 10 bar water resistance. Manufacture automatics: Calibre 36-10 (Vinyl, black-rhodium) and Calibre 36-11 (Tweed / Stereo, rhodium) — same architecture, ~100-hour reserve. Lug-to-lug is not on the official product-page text we could check — press prints ~43.7 mm; Watch Advice prints 43.6 mm. That span is third-party only. We do not invent an official L2L.

Official numbers (GO PDP + labelled press)

Indexed official pages agree on a stainless-steel square at 39.00 × 39.00 mm and 9.6 mm height, with gently rounded corners that nod to the older Seventies family in a smaller format. Crystal is sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both sides; the caseback is sapphire. Tweed Amp copy prints a screw-down crown and water resistance to 10 bar; press and AD sheets state 100 m across the trio. Surfaces are satin-finished with polished edges; the date sits at 3 in a conventional window — not the older Panorama Date.

Calibre 36-10 / 36-11 is manufacture automatic: 28,800 vph, about 100 hours reserve, 27 jewels, silicon hairspring, solid-gold balance screws, three-quarter plate with Glashütte ribbing, hand-engraved balance cock, blued screws, and a 21-karat gold oscillating weight with the skeletonised mirrored-G. Vinyl’s 36-10 is black-rhodium to match the LP dial; Tweed and Stereo use rhodium-plated 36-11. Same specs, different finish.

Vinyl / Tweed Amp / Stereo Panel — same case, three faces

All three share the hexagrid embossed dial, obelisk hands, and date at 3. Vinyl Record (1-36-10-04-02-86) is satin-matt black galvanised with solid white-gold hands and markers — limited to 500, and the set includes the steel bracelet and a black rubber strap. Tweed Amp (1-36-11-03-02-71 bracelet / -66 sand rubber) is brown galvanised with solid 5N red-gold hardware, named for the fabric covers of vintage guitar amps. Stereo Panel (1-36-11-01-02-71 bracelet / -66 black rubber) is silver galvanised with black-coated solid-gold hands and markers. Tweed and Stereo are regular production — pick dial, then bracelet or rubber; we do not invent a “best” colour.

Groove Lock is the practical SG note: bracelet or calf-lined rubber swaps without tools. The steel bracelet uses a double-fold clasp with 3 mm fine adjustment either way (press). Rubber is the humidity read; the lining is still calfskin against the wrist. Confirm which SKU is on the tray — Vinyl’s bundled pair is not a second colourway.

Fit on ~6.5″ — short press span, square bulk

On a ~6.5" (≈165 mm) wrist, a 9.6 mm square with press L2L in the ~43.6–43.7 mm class is a strong geometry argument if that third-party span holds — short enough that lug tips should sit inside the flat of the arm, and thin enough to clear a shirt cuff. It is not an official span. Until GO prints tip-to-tip, treat fit as incomplete in the checker and do not card on a press millimetre.

Flag visual bulk. A softly rounded square with integrated bracelet end-links wears larger than a round 39 of the same width. That is the Seventies trade: you get the TV-screen stance without the old 40 × 40 × 11.5 mm Panorama Date stack, but you still buy a square. Try the piece on before you treat 39 mm as “compact dress.” Water resistance is 100 m — everyday wet-hand language, not a tool diver. See sizing and 6.5" wrist size.

Rubber is the lighter first read in Singapore humidity; bracelet fine-adjust is the variable. If ~43.7 mm already feels upper-comfortable on your wrist, do not assume steel end-links will drape the same way as rubber. That is a tray question for Cortina or The Hour Glass — not a photo claim.

Soft SGD / Singapore buying path

Press/AD soft USD: ~USD 13,200 rubber (Tweed / Stereo), ~USD 14,500 bracelet, ~USD 16,300 Vinyl LE (bracelet + rubber). Monochrome’s EUR pair is EUR 13,100 / 14,400 / 16,200; Time and Watches prints a slightly higher indicative EUR band (13,300 / 14,500 / 16,500). Those are press lists, not a Singapore ticket.

Soft FX only from those USD figures (USD/SGD ~1.278, 18 Sep 2026): about ~S$16.9k rubber / ~S$18.5k bracelet / ~S$20.8k Vinyl LE.
