38 mm isn’t thin — Speedmaster 38’s 14.75 mm vs Chronomaster Sport on a 6.5" wrist
Omega restyled the Speedmaster 38 toward Moonwatch DNA on 25 Aug 2026 — circular subdials, Dot-Over-Ninety bezel, five-link bracelet energy. The automatic stack is still 14.75 mm tall. On a ~6.5" wrist in Singapore, that is the story — not overhang.
Lug-to-lug sits ~44.9 mm: tip-to-tip is usually fine. Cuff height and visual bulk are the trap. Diameter marketing says “compact”; the chronograph sandwich says otherwise.
Quick filter
For chronographs, ask thickness + L2L together. A short 38 with a tall stack can wear prouder than a longer, thinner 41. See sizing and lug-to-lug.
The trap — short L2L, tall stack
Working proportions for the 2026 Speedy 38 class: Ø38 × 14.75 × ~44.9–44.96 mm L2L. That L2L is friendlier than many mid-size sports pieces. Thickness is not — reviewers flagged the height ask as unanswered after the refresh.
For context: a 42 mm Moonwatch Professional often sits ~13.5 mm. The “smaller” Speedy can still feel like a puck under an Oxford cuff or in AC-to-street heat.
Opposite tradeoff — Chronomaster Sport 41
Zenith’s Chronomaster Sport runs Ø41 × 13.6 × ~46–47 mm L2L. Longer lug span, roughly 1.1 mm thinner. On ~6.5", try both: Speedy for tip clearance with height risk; CM Sport for a flatter stack that may eat more wrist length.
Soft SG orientation: ~S$15.8–17.1k (THG rubber/bracelet; Sincere ~S$16.6k incl. GST class). Band 4. Verify live ticket — not a quote.
Band-1 literacy — Speedtimer SSC813
Before you romance either AD chrono, calibrate on a thinner stack. Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SSC813: Ø39 / thick 13.3 / L2L 45.4 — solar chronograph literacy under ~S$960 list/street (~S$660–960 orientation). Band 1.
It will not feel like a Speedy. It will teach whether you care more about height or tip-to-tip before you spend Band 3–4 money.

SG path
Speedy 38 and Chronomaster Sport sit in the usual AD loop: Sincere / Cortina / The Hour Glass. New Speedy 38 refs may still be enquire-only after the late-Aug refresh. Ask for the tray piece, measure height under your cuff, and verify the live RRP — do not assume allocation.

Reality check
Press kits sell diameter. Chronograph stacks sell height. Try Speedy 38 and Chronomaster Sport on the same afternoon if both are available — ten minutes under a shirt cuff beats any table. Specs and soft SGD shift by reference; confirm before you card.
